Sciatica is pain, numbness, or tingling that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which runs from the lower back through the buttocks and down the back of each leg. The symptom is most commonly caused by pressure on the nerve from a herniated disc, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, or osteoarthritis.
